Academic Scholarships are awarded at the time acceptance to WVWC. No additional application is needed. Applicants must meet two
out of three criteria (class rank, GPA, and/or test score) in any combination.
Presidential Scholarship $15,000 (yearly) 3.5 GPA
1250 SAT or 1900 (NEW) or 28 ACT
Top 10%
Dean’s Scholarship $13,000 (yearly) 3.25 GPA
1100 SAT or 1650 (NEW) or 24 ACT
Top 25%
Wesleyan Merit Award $11,000 (yearly) 2.75 GPA
1000 SAT or 1400 (NEW) or 21 ACT
Top 30%
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Sara Elizabeth Blake up to $5000 Twenty awards based on academic credentials and need. For students
from Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia, and Northeastern
Ohio. No separate application is necessary.
Bonner Community Service Award based on Fifteen awards based on outstanding community service involvement
financial need and need. Preference is given to Federal Pell Grant eligible students.
A separate application must be submitted before February 15.
Mason Crickard $500-$3000 Must be a WV resident. Recommended 3.0 GPA with 1500 SAT (NEW) or
22 ACT. A separate application must be submitted before March 1.
WVWC Legacy $1,000 Must be a dependent of a Wesleyan alumnus.
Nelle V. and Kathryn McLaughlin (Chemistry) $4,000 Six awards available for chemistry majors. Candidates must have a
3.5 GPA with SAT math score of 600 or ACT math score of 26. A separate
application must be submitted before March 1. Candidates may be asked
to interview by phone or on campus.
Nelle V. and Kathryn McLaughlin (English) $4,000 Six awards available for English (writing, literature, or education)
majors. Candidates must have 3.5 GPA with SAT verbal or writing
score of 600 or ACT English score of 26. A separate application must
be submitted before March 1. Candidates may be asked to interview
by phone or on campus.
United Methodist Ministerial Grant 50% of Tuition, Grant candidate must be a dependent of full time clergy member of the
Room and Board United Methodist Church. This award cannot be combined with other
merit awards.
Wesleyan United Methodist Matching Program For confirmed members of the United Methodist Church. Scholarship will
reflect a double and/or triple your dollars program from WVWC and the
United Methodist Higher Education Foundation.
West Virginia Annual Conference (UMC) 50% of Tuition Candidate must have a 2.75 GPA with a 1000 SAT of 1400 (NEW) or
Room and Board 21 ACT and have attended the West Virginia Annual Conference youth
events each of their four years of high school. Qualifying events include
Summer Youth Celebration and/or Fall Workshop. A separate application
must be submitted before March 1. Cannot be combined with other merit
awards.

PERFORMANCE BASED AWARDS
Athletics $500 and up Accepted student-athlete who meets NCAA Division II eligibility
requirements. Athletes must pass NCAA Clearinghouse standards.
Awards are determined by coaches.
Performing Arts (Music and Theatre) $500 and up Audition is required before March 1. Awards are available in vocal and
instrumental music, theatre, technical theatre, musical theatre, and
dance.
Visual Arts $500 and up An art portfolio and separate art scholarship application must be
submitted before March 1.
TRANSFER STUDENT AWARDS
Presidential Scholarship $15,000 3.5 GPA from transferring four-year college or accredited community
college. If less than 12 hours, refer to high school criteria.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship $15,000 Active PTK member.
Full-time student at community college.
3.5 GPA.
Dean’s Scholarship $13,000 3.0 Transfer GPA.
Wesleyan Merit Award $11,000 2.5 Transfer GPA.
SCHOLARSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
• Notification of Academic and Legacy Scholarships will occur at the time of the admission decision. All other scholarship awards (except athletics)
are announced after March 1. Academic awards include the Presidential, Dean’s, and Wesleyan Merit Scholarships (and special awards listed for
transfer students).
• Academic and Legacy Scholarships, and the United Methodist Ministerial Grant are four-year renewable awards. The awards can be applied
to a fifth year of study if a student pursues the Five-Year Undergraduate/Master’s of Business Administration Program.
• Athletics, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Bonner, Sara Elizabeth Blake, McLaughlin Chemistry and English, WV Strawberry Festival, and
Mason Crickard Scholarships are four-year renewable awards. They cannot be applied to a fifth year of study.
• Combination awards require the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid before March 1. Wesleyan’s School Code is 003830.
• Outside scholarships (including the Mason Crickard and the West Virginia Promise Scholarship) will be added to financial aid awards
except for Bonner Scholarship recipients. Wesleyan may adjust an aid package if the outside scholarship (combined with other
scholarships and grants) exceeds the total direct cost. Outside scholarships may also affect loan eligibility.
• Scholarships covering room charges are congruent with a standard double room rate.
There are strict maximums when combining different scholarship sources and financial need may be a factor in determining the total amounts.
